May 13, 2014 (DAYONE)
We met at around 6:45am at Agora terminal and ate a heavy breakfast for our piggie tummies at Jollibee. Rode a Butuan Bus to Balingoan by 8am (fare: 150php /head) and arrived at the bus stop around 9:30am. Walked our way from Balingaon bus terminal to Balingoan port. The ferry fare to Camiguin Island is 175php /head. Arrived at Binoni port, Camiguin by 11:30am. From the port, there are vans and jeepneys to Mambajao proper. We rode jeep to Mambajao (fare: 25php /head) and scouted for a place to eat.
After lunch, we rode a motorela (fare: 15php /head) to Paras Beach Resort, already booked a room for two nights a week ago. Some rela drivers offered to drive us to the resort for 100php but of course we said no. Who would want to ride in a rela with a very expensive fare. Arrived at Paras Beach Resort by 1pm. Asked the staffs if they have motorcycles for rent. The guard then endorsed us to manong-motorcycle-for-rent across the resort. He offered us his motorcycle for 600php and told us that we can use it that afternoon until tomorrow night. Since his motor was the most accessible one (and it is very near the resort) we grabbed it. Rested for a while at our room and then went to Mambajao proper by 4pm to buy foods and other necessities (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, water, junks, bread, etc). Of course, no trip would ever be complete without food! Lucky that the motor we rented had 1/4 tank gasoline already. Chilled by the beach til almost dinner time.
Ate dinner at Casa Roca (10min. ride from Paras Resort) with my forever friend Xtine Cajilla. Casa Roca iss situated on a cliff with breathtaking vistas of the sea and countryside, and that, plus the genuinely friendly service provided by its owner, miss Evelyn. Had some chitchats with THE Isla girl and gave her a ride back to Mambajao proper because she still had to wake up early the next day for a seminar. Dropped by a gas station (170php for a full tank motorcyle). For our first night at the resort, we enjoyed ourselves in the pool and had beer. We had to sleep well because day two was packed with activities and mostly spent jumping from one tourist hot spot to the next.
May 14, 2014 (DAYTWO)
Woke up at around 6am and had bread and sandwich spread for breakfast. We brought with us a small bag for our gadgets, waterproof container and coins (for entrance fees, souvenirs, etc). Forgot to bring the sunblock tho. Wore twopiece underneath my see-through top and shorts so that it would be easier for me to change from pools to springs to beach. And yes say hello to our couple shades, haha!
First stop was at The Walkway to the old volcano and stations of the cross. Did not climb the stairs, only took photos and then went to our next stop.
Second stop was at the Sunken Cemetery. Saw a beautiful Rainbow above the cross, yaay! Rode a small banka (100php) to the huge cross and had our pictures taken by a little teenage boy, the photographer/sunken cemetery tour guide. Had some unclear photos because of our waterproof container and the light.
Third stop was at Old Gui-ob Church Ruins where we lit candles and said our own personal prayers. There was a little girl who sells candles and she was very kind to take pictures of us and act as our tour guide. A friend of her, also a little girl, helped her. Gave them tips before we bid good bye.
Fourth stop was at Soda Water Swimming Pool. Entrance fee is at 30php /head. Took a lot of underwater videos here with the help of the waterproof container from a store at Centrio.
Fifth stop was at Sto. Nino Cold Spring. Bought goggles there because Fifi broke his goggles at Talisayan a week ago. Also bought cute minion keychains with our names. Entrance fee at 30php /head. The water here is super cold and super deep and super slideyyy. Saw lots of little fishes swimming. After a couple of minutes, we went outside and ate a cup of noodles. We did not go to Katibawasan Falls because Fifi told me scary stories about the falls on our way there.
Sixth stop was at J&A Fishpen. Arrived at around 10:30am and we decided to eat lunch there. There was a restaurant but I wanted to eat near the water (cottage: 100php). Had sinugba, pancit, shakes, and buko. My personal driver was so hungry heehee. We were supposed to go to Mantigue Island the next day but since we’re almost done with our tour and Mantigue Island is just near J&A fishpen, we took the risk even if it was too hot already.
Seventh stop was at Mantigue Island. The boat is 590php (good for 5 persons). There is an environmental fee in the island, I think 10 or 15php /head. I love Mantigue Island because it has trees and cottages. The beach is clear and clean, plus the sand is finer than White Island. I would really recommend my friends to go to Mantigue Island in the morning so that they could spend more time there without worrying for tan lines and sun burnt skins
Eighth stop was at Cafe1914. Unumnomed halo halo because the scorching heat of the sun fried us, really.
Ninth stop was at Ardent Hot Spring. Bought pasalubong keychains here. Fifi loved the hot spring because it relaxed him. I have to agree because it relaxed me as well. The water is also clear and clean. There are 4 or 5 pools with different degrees of hotness. Took lots of underwater videos (as usual).
Ardent Hot Spring was our last stop before heading back to Paras Beach Resort. Showered and rested. Fifi did sleep because he was very tired, being the driver was really tiring paired with the heat of the sun. Waited for Xtine and her boyfi to arrive at the resort. Had pizza at Luna Ristorante, a homegrown, Italian-inspired restaurant that specializes in mouthwatering pizzas, hot off their brick ovens. Xtine payed for the two pizzas and also gave me pasalubong for my mama! So generous of my forever friend. After dinner, we parted ways and Fifi & I went to Checkpoint Food Palace to drink beer and chill for a while. We then returned the motorcycle to the owner and went back to our room to rest.
May 15, 2014 (DAYTHREE)
Woke up at around 6am and rode Paras Beach Resort’s boat to White Island (the boat is 500php for 5 persons). Sunrise was very pretty that time.
Enjoyed taking photos with loverboy. Ate a sea something and it was not yummy, looks yummy but nahhh. How I wished we bought monopods so that it would be easier for us to take couple shots. We had our breakfast at White Island. Beakfast prices were too expensive. Went back to Paras Beach Resort at around 8am.
Chilled at the pool for an hour before we took a bath and arranged our stuffs.
Ate lunch at Paras before we checked out. Kuya guard was kind enough to take a picture of us before we leave.
Rode a motorela (15php fare) to Mambajao proper and checked in at GV Hotel for a night because we still want to ukayukay and buy pasalubongs. After an afternoon nap, we went to the market and we were able to ukay clothes. We also bought pasalubongs at Vjandep. Bought smoothies at Sector9 Rooftop Hotel. Also bought junks and Tanduay cocktail (Strawberry flave) across the street. Had dinner at a nearby resto and scouted for ice, had difficulties looking for ice tho. Spent the night laughing and joking around until we fell asleep.
May 16, 2014 (DAYFOUR)
Woke up early and had breakfast at Sector9 before we traveled back to CDO. Rode a van to Binoni Port (fare: 30php /head).
Waited a couple of minutes at Binoni port and then waited for about 30mins to an hour at Balingoan bus terminal. So hard to ride a bus to CDO because buses are already full.
Arrived at CDO and guess what, haha dropped by Jollibee (again) to eat late lunch. Went home, changed travel clothes to casual datedate clothes and went to Centrio to watch Oculus.
Bottom line: Vacations put people in a good mood. Traveling lets you de-stress and get back to the basics of enjoying each other and all of the good things life has to offer. Here’s to our next trip! :)
Favorite leisure activity. ❤️
